The Department of Computer and Software Engineering at Bahria University ishome to multi-disciplinary research and academic units that address issues andrecent advances in Computer and Software Engineering. The Department of Electrical Engineering andComputer Science (EECS) offers two programs, computer systems program andelectrical and computer engineering program. Computer and Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is ranked No. 7 inCanada for Overall Research by NTU International Rankings and No. 4 forfaculty h-index in Canada for Overall Research, NTU International Rankings. Itis the biggest department under Ryerson University’s Faculty of Engineeringand Architectural Science (FEAS). Planswere in place in 2008 to move the ECE department from Everitt Laboratory to anew building as class sizes grew and bigger demands were placed on researchspace and lab classes. Construction started in January 2012 and the buildingwas opened with the ceremony in October 2014. The new ECE building is thelargest building in the world to have a net-zero energy design with 230,000square feet of labs, classrooms, and facilities, including a state-of-the-artnanofabrication lab.

Computer and Electrical Engineering Programs[edit]

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently consists ofComputer Engineering and Electrical Engineering programs. The two classes areblended until the second semester of second year. The two programs are thendivided through program specific courses, with the Computer Engineering classrequired to take Embedded Microprocessor Systems and Systems Programming whileElectrical Engineering students are required to take Advanced Calculus II, andElectrical Properties of Materials.[3] As of June 2011, Computer Engineeringand Electrical Engineering had 173 and 208 students registered respectivelyfor the fall 2011 semester.[4] The Department also offers specialized classesfor Nanotechnology, Mechatronics, Software, and Biomedical engineeringstudents. As of 2016, the department is chaired by Dr. Vincent Gaudet.[5]
